24 Hours of Innovation Contest

The event was held at Northern Kentucky University’s Griffin Hall Digitorium on November 15 – 16, 2013. This was the second event of its kind at NKU. The success of it has been made possible by the presence and extraordinary efforts of NKU’s Professor of Business Informatics Dr. Teuta Cata, the Department Chair and Professor of Business Informatics Dr. Ben Martz, and TechAllies CEO Mr. Tony Kelly.

“The event was a tremendous success”. Says Tech Allies CEO Tony Kelly. Encapsulating over 60 passionate students who contributed innovative ideas, knowledge, thought, research and their entire Saturday to their team’s ideas. The event kicked off on Friday night at 6pm with a speech and introduction by Tech Allies founder and CEO Tony Kelly. Guest speakers from companies such as Toyota, SAP, OpEx Leadership, and University of Kentucky proceeded with presentations on current industry solutions, business processes and business cases. The students then disbursed into their groups and began collaborating on their app ideas.

What Happened:

The students were broken into diverse groups based on their discipline of study and were given 24 hours to dream up, expand on and present their mobile app to a panel of judges and students. With and average of three to five ideas per group, there was an abundance of ideas flowing. The apps that were presented ranged in a variety of categories including disaster recovery, productivity, asset tracking, health and wellness, event planning, bar and food, social and recreational.

Two teams were chosen and awarded prizes based on application, idea, business strategy and overall presentation of the app.
